Today we are celebrating Harmony Day. One of our students was asked to write some information about Harmony Day, and a recount of the events that have been taking place in Room 13.
What is Harmony Day? By Gautham Mandati
Harmony Day is all about the different cultures of people. We show friendship to those people who have come to Australia so that they feel warm in their hearts. We live in peace together in Australia because Australia is a very lucky place to be away from all the wars. It is very important to be kind to other people who came from another country. Everyone is so unique and we know not to make fun of others because of their differences.
On Thursday, we met
up with our kindy buddies in Room 1 to make a Harmony Day poster, using outlines of our
hands. We used coloured paper to make our hand cut-outs unique, which is what Harmony Day is all
about. We put them around an image of the Earth.
On Friday, we met up with
our buddies again for the Wattle Grove Harmony Day Parade to celebrate the different
cultures in our school. We are wearing costumes and have brought flags to represent the
country that we come from. Some people also wore orange, because it is the colour of Harmony Day. In our class we have students from India, Australia, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Phillipines, England and more.
